Africa Soccer AWCON 2022: Uganda coach rings changes ahead of clash against Morocco

Uganda’s Crested Cranes coach George Lutalo has made four changes to his squad to face Morocco at the ongoing Women Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON) on Tuesday evening.

The coach said he had made the changes ahead of the Group A match in view of the 2-0 loss suffered to Senegal in the group’s opener.

“We come into this game on the back of a loss. Having looked at our performance, we have tried to rectify our mistakes and hope for improvement against hosts Morocco. It is a tough game for us but we must find a good result to keep our dreams alive,” Lutalo said.

Defender Yudaya Nakayenze and midfielder Hasifah Nassuna will miss the match through illness whereas Margaret Namirimu has been selected ahead of Aisha Nantongo.

In the absence of Nakayenze, midfielder Phionah Nabbumba starts as a make shift centre back, partnering her teammate Namirimu, according to Uganda FA.

The other change in the starting XI is Fazila Ikwaput who gets ahead of Viola Nambi on the right win

The match will take place at Rabat’s Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex where the hosts hope to register back to back wins..

Morocco started the race with a win over Burkina Faso.

In the other group A game, Burkina Faso will face Senegal at the same venue.
