Dstv Premiership Gavin Hunt To Resume Coaching Duties As SuperSport Are Close To Name Him

Kaizer Chiefs parted ways with Gavin Hunt in May last year after a string of poor results with the club. However, he had led Amakhosi to the semi-final of the CAF Champions League.

After a brief move to Chippa United, Hunt has been without a job for quite some time. And Hunt suggested he would love to take on a new coaching challenge if the culture was the right fit.

He therefore hinted on social media that he is missing the feeling of being closely involved in the game. his statement drew an interesting response from close friend and colleague Pitso Mosimane who also recently stepped down from Egyptian Premier League giants Al Ahly.

It now appears that Hunt may not be without a job for too much longer according to SABC Sport, leading football journalist Mazola Molefe reports that the four-time league winner coach is poised to be unveiled as SuperSport’s new coach on a three-year deal.

SuperSport United have been expected to make their final decision on a new head coach in the coming days after a board meeting. And pending to board approval, the announcement could be made by Friday.

After firing coach Kaitano Tembo in April, Andre Arendse stepped in as caretaker coach until the end of the season and was hoping to be appointed to the position full-time.

It’s also revealed by the increasingly popular social media handle, UnplayableZA, that SuperSport United are looking to bring back Hunt as head coach. It will now signify a remarkable return after his extensive and largely successful stint at the club between 2007 and 2013.

Other coaches previously linked to the job are Fadlu Davids, Gavin Hunt, Benni McCarthy and Cavin Johnson.
