Tunisia WAFCON 2022: Zambia Left It Late To Get First Win Against Tunisia

Zambia had to wait until added time of second half to get a 1-0 win against Tunisia at the WAFCON 2022 Group B game on Wednesday.

The Copper Queens showed dexterity and were more ambitious against the Tunisian side.

The Copper Queens could have regretted their missed chances should they had loss or drew the game after coming several times to break the deadlock in the first half but couldn’t .

Ochumba Lubandji missed from the spot after Zambia were awarded a penalty in the first half.

They brought the COSAFA Region heat against Tunisia more in the second half.

Xiomara Mapepa thought she had broke the deadlock in the 67th minute as she got all Zambia supporters and spectators on their feet.

The goal was later disallowed. Despite not making contact with Xiomara Mapepa’s freekick, Avell Chitundu was adjudged to have been offside.

The Copper Queens dug dee, kept knocking and finally found the winner in the Stoppage time through Chitundu who scored in the 90+2 minutes.

Zambia currently top Group B with four points from two games pending the outcome between Cameroon and Togo who are playing as at the time of this report.

Zambia last Group B game will be against Togo.
