Women's AFCON 2022 AWCON: Togo Seek Win Against Zambia With Hope To Reach Quarter-Finals

Zambia will meet Togo for 2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Group B final match. The match against debutants Togo will take place on 9 July at the Stade Prince Heritier Moulay El Hassan at 21h00 local time and 20h00 GMT.

Meanwhile, Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) took to social to confirm Zambia’s qualification who have four points. Meaning that the Copper Queens can end as one of the two best third placed sides even if they lost to the Sparrowhawks Ladies on Saturday.

In their two first group games, Zambia finished with a draw 0-0 against Cameroon and a win 1-0 over Tunisia.

Their opponents Togo, on the other hand, lost their opening game against Tunisa 4-1. They will later secure one point with a surprise draw 1-1 againt indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon.

In a group that is still open to qualification, Togo have a chance to advance to the quarter-finals if they succeed in beating their opponents today.

Being used as a qualifier to the 2023 New Zealand/Australia FIFA Women’s World Cup, the WAFCON top four teams in Morocco will qualify for the event.
