Jermaine Seoposenwe’s lone goal against Tunisia secured South Africa a ticket to the semi-final of the WAFCON 2022 and a place in the FIFA Women World Cup.
The Banyana Banyana defeated their North African opponent at the Stade Prince Moulay EL Hassan in the last quarter final of WAFCON 2022.
Despite being hit by COVID-19 that ruled out star player, Thembi Kgatlana, the South African remain focused on their quest.

Seoposenwe who was injured in the game against Botswana recovered from her injury and was drafted into the starting eleven.
After returning to the action, Seoposenwe scored the opening goal for the South Africans in the 13th minute with her second goal of the competition.
Tunisia, on the other hand, failed to take the ball away from their South African opponents and found themselves on the back foot early on.
The Banyana defense stayed resolute and scarcely allowed the Tunisians a sight at goal in the closing minutes of the first half with Matlou back in the lineup in place of Janine van Wyk.
After the resumption of the second half, Desiree Ellis’ team had a chance to increase their advantage, but Noxolo Cesane was unable to take advantage and shot over the crossbar on minute 55.
Smidt and Nomvula Kgoale were replaced for the last 30 minutes by Amogelang Motau and Melinda Kgadiete as Ellis replied with a double substitution.
Despite recording three victories in the group stages, Banyana has a history of failing to capitalize on its opportunities.
This trend continued in the second half when Kgadiete volleyed over from close range with 11 minutes remaining.
Banyana hung on for the victory, advanced to the semi-finals, and qualified for their second World Cup despite the squandered opportunities.
They have now joined Nigeria, Morocco and Zambia who had earlier booked their spot in next year’s FIFA Women World Cup to be hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
Also, they will square up against the Copper Queens of Zambia in the semi final.
