Sadio Mane expressed delight after being crowned 2022 African Footballer of the Year during CAF Awards in Rabat, Morocco on Thursday night.

The Bayern Munich star was in competition with his former Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah and Chelsea goalkeepper Edouard Mendy.

However, Mane beat both oh them by gaining more points to claim the highly-coveted award.

Speaking after receiving the trophy, Sadio Mane said : “I’m really delighted to have won this award.

“I would like to thank the president of the Senegalese federation, my coach, my teammates at club and national team level and my family in Senegal. I’m emotional and don’t even have the words to express myself”, the 30-year old added.

It’s two in a row for Sadio Mane now as he was the last winner in 2019.
