athletics Buhari Congratulates Amusan For Setting World Record

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Tobi Amusan for winning the women’s 100-meter hurdles gold medal at the World Athletics Championship 2022.

In a statement sent by his media adviser, Femi Adesina, on Monday, the President joined millions of Nigerians in praising a fellow countrywoman and two-time African Games champion who in one night astonished the sports world with her extraordinary and exceptional performance.


The President expressed gratitude to the track star for bringing the national anthem of Nigeria back to life from the international stage, leaving the country with the thrill and memorable memories of tears of joy and triumph, hope and victory, incredulity and belief.

The famous career and accomplishments of the golden girl, according to President Buhari, will continue to motivate future generations of Nigerian athletes to achieve extraordinary success.

The President also praised Ese Brume for proudly and honorably representing Nigeria by taking home the silver medal in the women’s long jump competition.

He praised Team Nigeria for showing bravery, ethics, and excellent sportsmanship on the international stage, demonstrating that success is possible with effort and willpower.

Meanwhile, more congratulatory messages continued to troop in for Amusan with the Minister for Youths and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, congratulating her for being focused.
