As Napoli crushed Verona 5-2 away on Monday, Victor Osimhen opened the new Serie A campaign with a goal and an assist.
Napoli went in front 2-1 after three minutes of first-half extra time thanks to a goal from Osimhen.
He then contributed an assist to Matteo Politano’s fifth goal, which Napoli scored with 11 minutes remaining.

Head coach Luciano Spalletti then took Osimhen’s place with seven seconds left on the clock.
With the victory, Napoli surpassed teams like champion AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Roma, who also won their opening match, to take the top spot in the league rankings.
Osimhen helped Napoli qualify for the Champions League by scoring 14 goals in 27 matches in the Italian top tier last season.
