Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL club, Sunshine Stars of Akure have appointed Edith Agoye as new coach ahead of the 2022–2023 season.

Coach Deji Ayeni joined the team in the beginning of the previous campaign but departed in the middle of it to join Akwa United, where he worked under Cameroonian Emmanuel Deutsch, who oversaw the team until the end of the year.

They chose not to renew his contract and to appoint a new manager instead.

The team’s head coach for the upcoming season will be Agoye, the management revealed on Monday.

Last season, a former player for Esperance of Tunisia was in command of Shooting Stars. He resigned from his position last week.

The Akure Gunners, who ended in the middle of the league last year, will be hoping to qualify for the continent this year.
