Egypt Zamalek Decide To End Season Without Key Players After League Title

Zamalek have been already crowned Egyptian Premier League champions for a 14th time without kicking a ball after the 1-0 loss of second-placed team Pyramids FC to rivals Future FC.

After Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with rivals Ittihad of Alexandria, Zamalek players, technical staff and fans celebrated winning their second successive league trophy amid a festive atmosphere at Cairo’s International stadium.

As the most improtant has been done already, Zamalek coach Jesualdo Ferreira has decided to rest 10 of the team’s players until the end of the season.

According to Zamalek’s official website, skipper Mahmoud Shikabala, defender Mahmoud ‘El-Wensh’ Hamdi, defender Ahmed Fatouh, defender Hossam Abdel-Maguid and winger Ahmed Zizo will all have a rest until 2 September.

Also, Tunisian fullback Hamza Mathlouthi, Tunisian striker Seifeddine Jaziri, midfielder Mohamed Ashraf, midfielder Emam Ashour and defender Mohamed Abdel-Ghani are on the rested players list.

The 10 rested players will rejoin the team on 2 September, just a week ahead of facing Saudi side Al-Hilal in the Saudi-Egyptian Super Cup.

Zamalek still have two games in hand in the Egyptian league as they will face Masry on 26 August before facing Eastern Company four days later.
