Manchester United Ronaldo Going Nowhere – Ten Hag Clarifies

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, reiterated his reliance on Cristiano Ronaldo on Wednesday.

It’s clear, of course, we need quality players,” Ten Hag told a press conference when asked about his unsettled Portuguese star on the day before the transfer window closes.

“You need more and to cover all the games to keep the consistency going, that’s what we strive for.

“From now on, we go in three games a week.

“We will go from September to minimum January with this squad.”

Ever since United missed out on the Champions League at the end of the last campaign, Ronaldo has been lobbying for a transfer.

The 37-year-old Portuguese striker is the competition’s all-time leading scorer, 15 goals ahead of Lionel Messi, who is an Argentine who will participate in the Champions League this season with Paris Saint-Germain and is more than two years younger.

The top clubs in Europe have been unwilling to make bids to Ronaldo, and the most recent reports have him linked to teams like Sporting Lisbon, where he previously played, Napoli, and Marseille.

Only one of United’s four league games this season—the embarrassing 4-0 loss at Brentford—has seen Ronaldo start.

Firstly, I have to sign him! There’s an agreement between the clubs but the paperwork is not done so I cannot go too deep into that,” he said.

According to reports, United would pay Ajax a fixed fee of £80.6 million plus an additional £4.2 million in add-ons for the 22-year-old, who has not yet undergone a physical.

Martin Dubravka from Newcastle is anticipated to join, according to Ten Hag, who also verified this. According to reports, the goalie passed his physical.

Ten Hag stated that the Antony and Dubravka transactions would wrap up United’s dealings for the current window and that right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka would not be going.

“In the offensive department, we needed to strengthen the squad. Offensive players fatigue quicker. They have to run more with high intensity,” he said.

“For this window, it will be the end. You always have to be alert at a top club. But we will go from September to minimum January with this squad.”

The season began with two losses for United, one each at home to Brighton and Brentford, but they have since rebounded with one-goal triumphs against Liverpool and Southampton to move towards the middle of the league.

On Thursday, United travels to Leicester; on Sunday, when it hosts Arsenal, who are now leading the league, Antony might be available.
