Brazil Brazil Thrash Banyana Banyana In International Friendly

Brazil, the South American champs, defeated Banyana Banyana 3-0 in a Friday night international friendly.

Jermaine Seoposenwe, Andile Dlamini, Noxolo Cesane, Linda Motlhalo, and Refiloe Jane were among the important players for the home team who won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations victory.

Brazilian pressure nearly led to a breakthrough when Adriana de Silva headed wide at the back-post after latching onto a cross as Banyana Banyana sat back during the opening moments.

More tense situations for Banyana followed, with goalkeeper Dlamini having to make a point-blank save to parry shots from Geyse Ferreira and Kerolin, respectively.

Seoposenwe received a ball from behind and sent the next delivery wide as Banyana withstood the early onslaught to create their first real chance.

Three minutes before halftime, Geyse of the visiting country chested down a looping ball outside the box and volleyed in off the underside of the post.

Adriana capitalized on a sloppy defensive clearance by Bongeka Gamede to score from close range for Brazil just before the break.

In preparation for the second half, the visitors changed things up by substituting Micaelly for Kerolin and debutante Beatriz Zaneratto for Deborah de Oliveira.

The second period was off to a fast start for Banyana, and a few balls in and around the Brazilian defense gave them hope of mounting a comeback.

Midway through the second half, Tamires de Britto scored a goal for Brazil to retake the lead as Banyana struggled to contain a ball in the box.

Later on, the home team had to make a substitution after goalkeeper Dlamini got hurt. Kaylin Swart came on, and Cesane made way for Thalea Smidt.

Banyana attempted to score a consolation in the last minutes, and they came near on a few occasions, but the final score in Soweto was 3-0.
