Friendly US Women Team Thrash Super Falcons 4-0 In Friendly

United States of America, the reigning world champions, defeated the Super Falcons of Nigeria 4-0 in a friendly international match on Saturday.

The first of two friendlies scheduled between the USA and the Falcons was played at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City.

Since their first encounter at the 1999 women’s World Cup, the USA has now triumphed in all seven of their encounters with the Falcons.

Deborah Abiodun, Tosin Demehin, and Rofiat Imuran, Falconets heroes at the recently finished FIFA U-20 women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, made their Falcons debuts as Esther Onyenezide sat on the sidelines.

Chiamaka Nnadozie, Osinachi Ohale, Uchenna Kanu, Toni Payne, Rasheedat Ajibade, Michelle Alozie, and Ifeoma Onumonu were just a few of the Falcons’ paraded players.

In the 14th minute, Sophia Smith gave the USA the lead, and Lindsay Horan doubled it at the 25-minute mark.

In the 45+1th minute, Smith scored her second goal of the match to make it 3-0 in the USA’s favor.

And Alex Morgan capped the thrashing in the 52nd minute by scoring from the penalty spot to break the tie 4-0.

The two teams will once again square off in a friendly on September 6 at Audi Field in Washington, DC.
