Manchester United Ten Hag Urges Players Not To Concentrate On Haaland Alone

In the Sunday derby, Erik ten Hag thinks Manchester United can defeat Manchester City, but he says that they won’t concentrate all of their efforts on trying to stop Erling Haaland.

The 188th Manchester derby will take place at the Etihad on Sunday between Manchester City and Manchester United.

11 of City’s 23 Premier League goals this season have been scored by Haaland, who transferred from Borussia Dortmund to City in the summer.

The 22-year-old has adapted well to life in English football and will play against United for the first time on Sunday at the Eithad.

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, who have been instrumental in United’s recent mini-revival under Ten Hag, are set to oppose him, but the Dutchman would not be drawn on how to stop the powerful center-forward.

We don’t play against Haaland, we play against Manchester City,” Ten Hag, who was named September’s manager of the month on Friday, said at his pre-match press conference.

They have a team, more than 11 players, but also we are convinced of our capabilities and if we act as a team, in and out of possession, then you can beat such opponents.

That is the belief we have to take with us when we line up, when we start the game and we do it over more than 90 minutes on Sunday, clear.”
