CAF Champions League CAFCC: Plateau United Humiliates Al Akhdar In First Leg

Plateau United, the second Nigerian team competing in the CAF Confederation Cup, lived up to the hype by defeating Libya’s Al Akhdar 4-1 at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

Plateau United dominated the game, and, like Rivers United, their efforts were rewarded early on with a goal from Mustapha Yuga in the 27th minute.

Just before halftime, Ifeanyi Emmanuel added a second goal to give the home team a well-earned 2-0 lead.

Ibrahim Gasau, the president of the Nigerian Football Federation, was present at the game’s location and was seen encouraging the players in the team’s locker room before the second half.

In the 53rd minute, Albert Hilary scored the third goal, but the assistant referee called him offside.

But in the 75th minute, Hilary finally scored a spectacular acrobatic goal to make it 3-0 for the home team.

When Hilary scored his second goal in the 90th minute, the Nigerian team had won 4-1. The away team had cut the deficit in half in the 85th minute.

Al Akhdar will play Plateau United in the rematch the following week.
