CAF Champions League CAFCC: Plateau United, Rivers United Aims For Group Stage Ticket

.The CAF Confederation Cup playoff round gets underway today across Africa, and two Nigerian sides are among the clubs competing for a spot in the group round.

When Rivers United plays Al Nasr of Libya at the renowned Adokiye Amasiamaka Stadium, everyone will be watching. Rivers United is the champion of the Nigeria Professional Football League.

The Pride of Rivers was forced to settle for the second-tier competition after being eliminated from the Champions League after losing 7-2 on aggregate against Wydad Casablanca of Morocco.

Plateau United came in second place in the Nigerian league in 2021–2022, however they were unable to advance to the Champions League group stage due to the contentious 2-1 defeat they suffered over two legs against previous champions Esperance of Tunisia.

At the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja, the Jos-based club will take on Al Khadar of Libya.

On Wednesday, both Nigerian teams will play their home leg before traveling to Libya the following week for the return match.

The competition’s group stage will be reached by the victor of the two legs.
