Nigeria Flamingos Receives Check From Super Eagles Captain Ahmed Musa

The Flamingos were given a dummy check for three million naira (N3M) upon their arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja on Tuesday. Ahmed Musa, the captain of the Super Eagles, had announced the amount.

The former winger for Leicester City in England had pledged to give the squad three million naira if they defeated Germany in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup match for third place, which just ended in India. With a 3-2 victory on penalties on Sunday, Nigeria became the second African nation to win the Third-place match.

Ahmed Musa delivered the three million Naira check to the squad as promised, according to a press release from the Ministry of Sports. Part of the declaration reads,

“A dummy cheque of the sum of N3million promised the team by Super Eagles’ captain Ahmed Musa was presented to the players and officials at the airport.”

The squad received a $10,000 reward from the NFF Task Force on Youth Competitions Chairman, Alhaji Aminu Balele Kurfi, for their historic performance at the FIFA World Cup.
