CAF Champions League CAFCC: Plateau United Off To Libya For Al-Akhda Game

Prior to Wednesday’s second leg match against Al-Akhda in the CAF Confederations Cup Playoff, Plateau United left Nigeria for Libya.

Timothy Henman, a representative of the North-East geographical zone on the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation NFF, will be in charge of the traveling group, which consists of players, coaches, and other backroom staff.

On Sunday, Plateau United flew from the Nigerian coast to Doha via Murtala Mohamed International Airport in Lagos, where they then changed to a flight to Benghazi, Libya.

The Peace Boys, who were controversially eliminated from the lucrative CAF Champions League group stage by Esperance of Tunisia, are entering this match following a 4-1 hammering of Al-Akhdar in the competition’s first leg, which was played at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja last Wednesday.

The 2017 Nigeria Professional Football League Champions can advance to the group stage of the second-tier CAF club competition with just a draw or by avoiding a score of 3-0 defeat.

After two failed tries in 2018 and 2020, Plateau United, which has never advanced past the preliminary phase of any CAF club competition, has already set its sights on the group stage this time around.
