In his village of Bambali, a statue of Senegal and Bayern Munich star Sadio Mane was unveiled.

Mane, who spent six years at Liverpool before joining Bayern in the summer, is still doing amazing work in Bambali, a community in southern Senegal.

The 30-year-old has contributed substantial sums of money to help the isolated village’s conditions, including £500,000 for a new hospital and most recently, a reported £200,000 towards the building of a new secondary school.

He is also claimed to have provided funding for a gas station and a post office to benefit the residents.

A Senegalese artist created and erected a statue of Mane as a tribute to his position as a local hero.

Mane is depicted on the statue wearing the Teranga Lions’ colors.

In the meantime, the image of the statue in Bambali has recently gone viral on social media.

One fan commented: “It’s not the best, but it’s made from the heart I guess.”

Another wrote: “Nice body work but on the face, let them replace it with a better head. Anyway, wood maybe hard to work with, I think.”

At the FIFA World Cup taking place in Qatar this year, Mane is anticipated to lead the Teranga Lions.

The hosts Qatar, the Netherlands, and Ecuador make up Group A together with the defending African champions.
