Nigeria Peseiro Clear Air On Osimhen Absence From Portugal Friendly

Jose Peseiro, the Super Eagles’ head coach, has clarified the situation surrounding the striker Victor Osimhen’s absence from Nigeria’s international exhibition game against Portugal.

Osimhen, who had been asked to play in a friendly encounter against the Portuguese national team’s Selecao on Thursday, withdrew from the squad owing to an injury.

The Portuguese manager said in a brief video interview on NFFTV that Napoli had contacted the NFF to explain why the striker wouldn’t be available for the friendly game on Thursday.

“Doctors from Napoli spoke to our doctor that Osimhen is not fit even in the last club game he felt pains in the back.

“They sent in a report and are with our doctor they said he will need between 10-15 days to fully recover.

“Of course, I will like to play him but there is nothing I can do, I always like to play the best”, Peseiro said.
