Senegal becomes the first African team to book their place for World Cup 2022 knockout stage round following their 2-1 over Ecuador on Tuesday afternoon.

The Teranga Lions needed a win against the South American team in order to validate their ticket for the next round.

And this is exactly what Aliou Cisse’s men did after a good start to the game.

Ismail Sarr put Senegal ahead from the penalty spot in the 44th minute as he scored his 11th goal with the national team.

The African champions were through to the next round at the break but will concede the equalizer in the 67th minute as Caicedo brought Ecuador level.

Chelsea centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly netted the much-needed goal for Senegal and help the West African nation win the game 2-1.

The Teranga Lions sealed their qualification to the next round and made Sadio Mane and all Africans proud.

In addition, Netherlands beat Qatar 2-0 in the other Group A game and are also through to the next round thanks to Cody Gakpo and Frenkie de Jong’s goals.
