FIFA World Cup Messi, Modric Starts As Argentina, Croatia Confirms Starting XI

The rivalry between Croatia and Argentina in the FIFA World Cup will rekindle in the semi final of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night.

Two players with distinct leadership , Luka Modric and Lionel Messi would be hoping to inspire their teams to victory.

Argentina and Croatia have met three times at the World Cup, but this is their first encounter in the knockout round.

Prior to Croatia’s 3-0 victory in the 2018 edition in Russia, Argentina won by a score of 1-0.

Only Germany had more appearances in the World Cup final than Argentina, who are attempting to make it for the sixth time (8). They have never lost in the semifinals; their most recent victory came in 2014 when they defeated the Netherlands.

Croatia, who were losing finalists in 2018, has a chance to join Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy as the only other European countries to have advanced to back-to-back World Cup finals (1982, 1986, 1990).

Croatia could become just the second team to knock both Brazil and Argentina out of the knockout rounds after their triumph over Brazil in the quarterfinal on penalties after Germany.

Two changes are made by Argentina from the team that narrowly defeated the Netherlands on penalties in the quarterfinals.

Lisandro Martinez and Marcos Acuna are replaced by Leandro Paredes and Nicolas Tagliafico.

Leading the line is star player Lionel Messi, who is joined by Julian Alvarez of Manchester City.

Argentina Starting XI: 

Martinez, Molina, Romero, Otamendi, Tagliafico, De Paul, Paredes, Fernandez, Mac Allister, Alvarez, Messi.

Croatia starts with the same lineup that defeated Brazil in the previous round after a shootout.

Ivan Perisic of Tottenham will continue to play in a forward position, and Josip Juranovic of Celtic will take the right-back position.

full-back for Rangers Borna Barisic once more has to make due with a spot on the bench.
