FIFA World Cup FIFA Appoints Polish Referee, Marciniak To Officiate World Cup Final

The World Cup final between France and Argentina will be officiated by Szymon Marciniak, according to FIFA.

Both of the finalist matches in Qatar have already been presided over by Marciniak. He oversaw France’s 2-1 victory over Denmark in the group stage and Argentina’s 2-1 triumph over Australia in the last 16.

Just five yellow cards have been issued by the Polish official, who also officiated matches at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, in his two matches this year’s competition. Neither a penalty nor a red card have been issued.

For their performances throughout the World Cup’s knockout rounds, some officials have drawn criticism, particularly Antonio Mateu Lahoz, who issued 15 bookings in Argentina’s victory against the Netherlands in the quarterfinals.

Regarding Cesar Ramos’ performance as the referee during their World Cup semi-final loss to France on Wednesday, the Moroccan Football Federation has filed a protest with FIFA.

Additionally, FIFA revealed that Abdulrahman Al Jassim of Qatar will preside over Saturday’s third-place playoff matchup between Croatia and Morocco.
