Napoli Osimhen Stars As Napoli Thrash Juventus To Maintain Winning Streak

Victor Osimhen continued his impressive form as his brace helped Napoli to a 5-1victory over Juventus on Friday.

After Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny stopped winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s close-range bicycle kick but was unable to save Victor Osimhen’s follow-up with a header, Osimhen gave Napoli the lead in the 14th minute.

Shortly after, Juventus had a golden chance to get one back, but Angel Di Maria’s incredible solo effort from outside the box hit the bar.

Five minutes later, Juve striker Arkadiusz Milik attempted to beat Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret with a header, but his effort was ineffective.

Instead, Osimhen assisted Kvaratskhelia in putting the finishing touch on Napoli’s second goal by providing a crisp cross into an open area in the 39th minute.

Three minutes later, Di Maria gave Juventus a chance to retake the lead when he made it 2-1 with a low shot into the left corner, leaving Meret unable to save it.

Ten minutes into the second half, Napoli’s defender Amir Rrahmani scored with a strong first-touch finish off a corner to give his team a two-goal advantage.

A few minutes later, Osimhen had a close-range opportunity to make it 4-1, but his strike just cleared the crossbar.

But in the 65th minute, the striker managed to get back on the scoresheet with his second header of the game and 12th Serie A goal of the year.

Napoli’s victory was secured in the 72nd minute by substitute Eljif Elmas.

Juventus gave up five goals in a Serie A game for the first time in nearly 20 years. The most recent occasion they suffered such a blowout was Pescara’s 5-1 defeat in May 1993.

In their past three league games against Juventus, Napoli, who are going for their first Serie A championship since 1990, are presently undefeated.

On January 21, Napoli will play in Salernitana, while Juve will face sixth-placed Atalanta the next day.

Napoli’s eight-game Serie A winning streak was spectacularly maintained with the victory.

With 47 points from 18 games, they have pushed their lead over the competition by 10 points.

Despite dropping to third place, Juventus and second-placed AC Milan, who still have a game remaining, are tied on 37 points.
