Premier League Todd Boehly told not to appoint ‘old-fashioned’ Jose Mourinho at Chelsea

While Jose Mourinho is being linked with a move to the Stamford Bridge, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has been warned over a possible appointment of the Portuguese coach.

Mourinho had two stints with the Blues all of them under former owner Roman Abramovich.

The ‘Special One’ has been successful during his time in London winning 3 Premier League titles, 2 FA Cups and 3 League Cups.

However, he is in Serie A since last season and his departure from Tottenham.

Mourinho even brought AS Roman to lifting their first-ever European title by winning the Europa Conference League with them last term.

But these last days, he is being linked with a comeback at Chelsea. Something which will not be a good idea according English journalist Oliver Holt.

“Perhaps Boehly would accept it, but it would be a mistake. Mourinho’s time in the elite has passed”, Olot wrote in his column for the Daily Mail.

“It would be too big a risk. His methods seem sour and old-fashioned now next to the endless energy and intensity of coaches like Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel and the august serenity of Carlo Ancelotti. They have all, in their own way, left Mourinho behind. He is a man out of his time.

“The template of his management cycle tells us that things will soon start to go wrong in Rome. His honeymoon year is over and the fighting is beginning. There are suggestions that he is not happy with the lack of funds available to him in the transfer market. It tends to go downhill reasonably quickly from here.”
