CHAN CHAN 2022: Senegal, Algeria Players Scoop Individuals Award

The CAF Technical Study Group has recognized players of Senegal and Algeria for their outstanding performance at the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2022 awards.

The Best Player of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2022 is Houssem Eddine Mrezigue of Algeria.

The Technical Study Group has recognized the 22-year-old midfielder for consistently making an impact for the Desert Foxes.

The An Arnat native got off to a fast start in the tournament opener against Libya, flying high in midfield and quickly becoming the team’s driving force.

Meanwhile, Aymen Mahious became the second Algerian to win the African Nations Championship (CHAN) Golden Boot.

After the final at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, no player was able to pass the 25-year-old due to his five goals scored during the campaign.

He becomes the second Algerian to get the honor after El Arbi Hillel Soudani, who shared it with four other players at the 2011 event.

Senegal’s teenage sensation Mamadou Lamine Camara claimed a third TotalEnergies Man of the Match award following their victory over hosts to scoop the Young Player of the tournament award.

The Teranga Lions won the individual prize to go along with the CHAN trophy in the thrilling Saturday night match at Nelson Mandela Stadium.

His compatriot, Pape Mamadou Sy bagged the Best Goalkeeper Award following his outstanding performance that saw him saved Algeria last penalty kick by Aymen Mahious.
