Malick Daf, the head coach of the Cubs of Senegal, is optimistic ahead of his team’s debut match against Nigeria at the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

The game is scheduled to take place on Sunday at the Cairo International Stadium (today).

The Cubs are among the top candidates for the championship despite having failed to win the coveted trophy in each of their last three visits in the final.

As they defeated their rivals Gambia 1-0 in Mauritania in 2022 as WAFU-A champions thanks to a goal from Samba Diallo, they earned a spot in the tournament.

“We are here to continue success of our country on the continent,” said coach Malick Daf said at the pre-match press conference on Saturday.
