CAF CONFEDERATION CUP CAFCC: Rivers United Through To Knockout Stage After Win Over Pembe

Rivers United are through to the quarters finals of the CAF Confederation Cup after a 3-1 over the DC Motema Pembe of the DR Congo on Thursday evening.

Due to the Congolese players’ failure to arrive in Nigeria for the match, the game, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday, had to be moved to Thursday.

Paul Acquah scored the game’s first goal, and the Nigerian team dominated the match from the opening kick.

Acquah also scored the lone goal on matchday 3 against the same opposition.

The second goal was scored by the Ghanaian star in the 55th minute, and Mydo Nakohou Yallet cut the deficit in half in the 78th.

With the third goal of his hat-trick in the 94th minute, Acquah gave the Pride of Rivers a 3-1 victory and all three points.

The outcome places Rivers United back at the top of the standings with 9 points, ASEC Mimosa in second place with 7, Diable Noirs in third place, and DC Motema Pembe in fourth.
