Serie A Inter Milan CEO announces what’s next for Lukaku future

Romelu Lukaku

Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta confirmed the Serie A side’s stance over Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku at San Siro.

The Belgian striker returned to Inter on loan after a second failure at Chelsea where he never proved what is he is worth.

Lukaku appeared happy to come back where he made a name for himself by winning the Scudetto under Antonio Conte during the 2020-2021 season.

The 29-year old even vowed he’ll not return to Chelsea as he wants to continue his career with the Nerazurri.

“I had a few conversations with my team-mates; I told them the truth about why I left and why I came back”, Lukaku told Sky Italia in January this year.

“I hope to stay in the future too. For me, Inter means everything. Now I have to do everything necessary, together with the team, for Inter to win. Then we’ll see.”

However, the club’s CEO Giuseppe Marotta announced that Inter Milan will not keep at the end of his loan which will run out at the end of the season as Lukaku only scored 5 goals and 1 assist in 18 games so far.

“The loan was for one season so on June 30 regardless of how well he plays, he’ll go back to Chelsea”, Marotta told Sky Italia.

“Lukaku hasn’t found the fitness he needs to play his best football. He’s still not at his best or the player we got to see in years gone by.”

As a reminder, Romelu Lukaku has a contract until June 2026 with Chelsea.
