Africa Soccer Benin share spoils at home with Rwanda as AFCON qualifiers MD3 starts

The Cheetahs of Benin are yet to register their first win in these 2023 AFCON qualifiers as they shared spoils against Rwanda on Wednesday afternoon in Cotonou (1-1).

The visitors were the one to score first as they found the back of the net inside 13 mùinutes of play.

Gilbert Mugisha put them ahead with a stike which saw them lead until the 90th minute.

However, they finally conceded the equalizer as Benin’s goal-getter Steve Mounie brought them level in the 82nd minute with a strongful strike.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw with Rwanda having played 10-men since the 61st minute and Hakim Sahabo’s red card.

Both teams will face off of the reverse in Cotonou again on monday as Rwanda does not have an authorized CAF stadium.

Rwanda is third of the Group (L) with 2 points while Benin is bottom with 1 point out of 3 games.
