Rivers United’s in-form attacker Nyima Nwagua has stated why the team is performing well in this year’s Confederation Cup.

The Pride of Rivers advanced to the competition’s quarter-finals with a game to spare on Sunday after a 2-2 draw with Congo’s Diable Noirs.

Nwagua was one of the day’s goal scorers, and his goal on Wednesday sealed a 1-0 victory over Rangers in a rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League encounter.

The strong attacker attributed their impressive performance on the continent to the present NPFL season.

“I will say its a very good one, as we’ve not had this kind of experience before but with the way things are going the fans can actually testify that now that our league is on we are doing well in the continent.

“When our league is on break you see us struggling in the continent, owing to poor fitness despite that we have a tight schedule and it feels very good”, he stated.
