AFCON AFCON 2023 Qualifier: Guinea-Bissau Vs Nigeria Starting Lineup

The Super Eagles are doomed to lose to Guinea-Bissau, and coach José Peseiro has picked a strong starting lineup.

Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has made many changes to the starting lineup for the Super Eagles’ 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea-Bissau.

The Portuguese coach has made five changes from the team that lost 1-0 to the Djurtus on Friday at the MKO Abiola Stadium.

Semi Ajayi of West Brom came on in place of Kevin Akpoguma in the first leg after the latter suffered a head injury.

Regrettably, as a precautionary measure, Akpoguma did not accompany the team to Bissau for the second. And Ajayi has been chosen as his replacement by Peseiro.

Kenneth Omeruo, who replaces Calvin Bassey in the starting XI, will partner Ajayi. In the first leg, Bassey did not inspire much confidence, and Omeruo would be aiming for a much more solid showing.

Frank Onyeka replaces Wilfred Ndidi in the starting lineup in the middle of the park.

The Super Eagles did not appear convincing in attack the last time they played, so Peseiro has opted to change things up.

Peseiro has decided to start Moses Simon on the left flank instead of Ademola Lookman. After failing to impress in the first leg, Simon was forced to replace him at halftime.

The Nantes player put up a good performance, and it’s no surprise that Peseiro has decided to start him this time.

Terem Moffi comes in for Kelechi Iheanacho, who was virtually non-existent in the first match. Moffi will line up with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who leads the line.

Nigeria Starting XI:

Francis Uzoho; Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Zaidu Sanusi; Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi; Moses Simon, Terem Moffi, Samuel Chukwueze, Victor Osimhen.
