France Aliko Dangote : Nigerian billionaire wants to buy French club

Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote who is known as the richest man in Africa according to Forbes ranking should buy a French Ligue 2 club soon in order to make it a big one in Europe.

According to Entreprendre.fr, the 66-year-old Nigerian tycoon whose fortune is estimated at €12.2m euros wants to buy Valenciennes, which currently sits 15th in Ligue 2 fighting against relegation.

In the midst of financial difficulties, the club was put up for sale by its current president Eddy Zdziech who owns 60% of the club’s capital.

The aforementioned source indicates that Dangote wishes to buy 100% of the capital of the club to invest in it in terms of infrastructure and recruitment in order to make the northern club one of the biggest in the years to come on the European level.

An amount of €10m is mentioned for the buyout. Which is not above the economic capacities of Dangote who should not have political complications due to his closeness to former French President Francois Hollande and current Emmanuel Macron whose visit he has received in 2018 in Lagos, the economic capital of Nigeria before being in turn received by the No. 1 of the French in 2019 in Versailles.
