Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan has purchased 5000 tickets for fans to attend Yanga SC’s Caf Confederation Cup first-leg fixture against USM Alger at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Sunday.

The Jangwani-giants qualified for their first-ever final in Caf competitions after managing a 4-1 aggregate victory against Marumo Gallants of South Africa in the semi-finals.

Ahead of the first meeting with USM, Samia through Chief Government Spokesperson Gerson Msigwa has pledged the tickets and gave the team a 20m/- cash prize as a motivation package for the two goals scored against Marumo in the away fixture.

“Aside from the President’s pledging to award 20m/- every goal they score in the upcoming two-legged Confederation Cup finals, she has also promised to buy 5000 tickets for fans wishing to cheer the team against the Algerians,” Msigwa said as quoted by Daily News.

“We have to use well the home-ground advantage of the first leg match…we now know how North African teams play; hence a need to defeat them at home is crucial and extend our chances to bring home the silverware.

“We have already written history, and it is time to finish it. The whole of Africa is talking about Yanga, and on behalf of President Samia, I congratulate you for enhancing the country’s football reputation on the continent.”

The return leg will be played in Algeria on June 2.
