“Just like the way we did against Marumo Gallants by stamping a good home win which helped us a lot to simplify the return leg match in South Africa.”

Yanga reached their first-ever final in the Caf competition after defeating Marumo 4-1 on aggregate. In the first leg, they defeated the South African side 2-0 and won the return leg 2-1 in Johannesburg.

Meanwhile, striker Fiston Mayele said: “We narrowly missed it while playing at AS Vita, and this is another opportunity to win the title in Tanzania. It will be a historic achievement for all Tanzanians.

“I am happy to be one of the top scorers in the Caf Confederation Cup because previously, I only managed to score three or four goals and had never netted six goals; I am grateful for my achievement this season.”

USM reached the final following a 2-0 aggregate result against Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimosas.
