Kenya Tusker must be wary of a wounded Gor Mahia – Matano

Tusker head coach Robert Matano believes a win against Gor Mahia will increase the team’s chances of winning a double this season.

The Brewers will come up against K’Ogalo in an FKF Premier League fixture at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday seeking to protect their slim lead at the summit of the 18-team table.

Tusker are already in the final of the Mozzart Bet FKF Cup where they will face Kakamega Homeboyz in the final.

“We are taking it a game at a time but a win against Gor Mahia will bring us closer to our dream of winning a double, it is my wish to get the two trophies and that is what we are fighting for,” said Matano.

“It will not be an easy game, Gor Mahia are coming from losing a derby [against AFC Leopards] and they know defeat will dent their hopes of winning the title, so I anticipate a close game.

“We will need to be clinical in front of the goal, we have not been putting away the many chances we create, it is something I have told my players to work on, especially against Gor Mahia. Any chance needs to be converted to goals, only that way we can get a positive result.”

Tusker are topping the league with 64 points from 34 matches, one point more than Gor Mahia, who have played the same number of matches.
