CAF Champions League Yanga SC suffer blow as Aucho set to miss USM Alger final

Young Africans (Yanga SC) have suffered a huge setback after solid midfielder Khalid Aucho was ruled out of their Caf Confederation Cup final against USM Alger.

The Jangwani-based giants will face the Algerian outfit in the first leg at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Sunday before they travel for the return leg in Algiers on June 2.

Surprisingly, the 29-year-old Uganda Cranes midfielder will not play any part in the two matches as he is suspended. Aucho has confirmed the news on his social media pages and wished the team all the best.

“I can’t believe this because it’s the worst news I got this year, I feel heartbroken for not playing in these two Caf finals but inshallah my brothers will bring this trophy and I will be happy again good luck, and sorry to the fans,” Aucho wrote.

Aucho, who joined Yanga last season, has already helped them to retain the Tanzanian Premier League title with two games to spare. Yanga are also in the final of the domestic cup where they are scheduled to face Azam FC.

Yanga qualified for their first-ever final in Caf competitions following a 4-1 aggregate result against South Africa’s Marumo Gallants. Yanga won the first leg 2-0 in Tanzania and picked a 2-1 result in the away contest.

Meanwhile, USM sailed through after a 2-0 aggregate result against Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimosas.
