Uganda KCCA FC can still beat SC Villa, Vipers SC to UPL title – Mayanja

KCCA FC coach Jackson Mayanja is not giving up on the Ugandan Premier League title as they prepare to face Bright Stars FC in their final game of the season at Omondi Stadium, in Lugogo on Saturday.

The Kasasiro Boys lie third on the table with 50 points and level with champions Vipers SC and are only separated by the latter’s superior goal difference. SC Villa are topping the log with 52 points from 27 matches.

KCCA have a chance of winning the crown only if both Villa and Vipers drop points and KCCA win their game against Bright Stars and coach Mayanja believes they still stand an opportunity to be crowned.

“We have an opportunity to win the league even when the biggest odds are in favor of Villa and Vipers,” Mayanja told the club’s official website.

“We want to finish on a high and we will just emphasise a beautiful brand of football that will make our fans happy. We have Kizza and Ayella back from injuries. Shaban will not feature due to illness.”

The last time both sides met in the league earlier this season, KCCA lost 1-0 to Bright Stars FC in Kavumba while in the last 21 games between both sides, KCCA has won 11 games, Bright Stars FC has won five, and both sides have shared spoils five times.

Mayanja will have the services of Mustafa Kizza and Dominic Ayella, who are back training while Muhammad Shaban is ruled out of the final game of the season due to illness.

Meanwhile, Tshisungu Kankonde will miss the game due to suspension.
