Uganda Vipers SC ready to end UPL season on a high – Isabirye

Vipers SC coach Alex Isabirye believes his side will do everything to defeat Busoga United in their final Ugandan Premier League fixture of the season on Saturday.

The Venoms are firmly in the race to retain the title as they lie second on the table with 50 points, two fewer than leaders SC Villa, who will come up against URA FC in another contest.

Ahead of Vipers’ fixture at St Mary’s Kitende, Isabirye told the club’s official website: “We are ready and know we have to play well and shall do our level best to make sure we win tomorrow’s [Saturday’s] game.

“We have no injuries, the players are prepared and the target always is to get three points from whichever game we play. In some games we’ve played we failed to hit that target, but you can see the players are always trying.”

Isabirye’s charges won’t expect it easy from Busoga, as the latter managed to secure survival following their 0-0 draw with KCCA FC last time out.

The Jinja-based side also beat Vipers 1-0 in the reverse fixture in the first round, courtesy of Laban Tibita’s goal.

Last season, at the same venue, Vipers, who will miss the services of suspended Hilary Mukundane and Karim Watambala, defeated Busoga 2-0, courtesy of goals from Hilary Mukundane and Paul Mucureezi.
