AFCON Sierra Leone To Host Super Eagles at Samuel Doe Stadium

The Leone Stars of Sierra Leone and the Super Eagles of Nigeria will play each other on matchday five of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations AFCON qualifying tournament at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium in Monrovia.

The meeting will take place on June 18, 2023, on a Sunday.

Since their nation lacks a venue that is appropriate for hosting international matches, the Leone Stars have played all of their home games in the qualifying tournaments outside of Freetown.

For the match, the Super Eagles will camp in Lagos.

The three-time African champions’ training facility, the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, has artificial turf comparable to that of the stadium in Monrovia.
Sunday, June 11 marks the start of training for Jose Peseiro’s team.

With nine points in Group A of the qualifications, the Super Eagles are in first place and only need one point from their remaining match to guarantee a spot in Cote d’Ivoire in 2023.

With five points in third place in the group, the Leone Stars need a victory to maintain their chances of qualifying.
