Rwanda Haringingo hints at Rayon Sports exit after Peace Cup success

Rayon Sports head coach Francis Haringingo has strongly hinted at leaving the Rwandan Premier League outfit after helping them lift Peace Cup on Saturday.

The Blues ended their trophy drought dating to 2016 after defeating rivals APR 2-1 in the final of the domestic cup at Huye Stadium.

After the game, Burundian tactician Haringingo, who joined Rayon on July 2022, said: “It’s going to be difficult to continue with Rayon Sports. I have been in the Rwandan league for many years and I am now exploring new coaching options [out of the country].”

He added: “The target was to win at least one title this season and I am so happy that we achieved it. We missed out on the league but we managed to win the Peace Cup. But, honestly, I am looking at trying new challenges after years in the Rwandan league.

“We fought so many difficult battles, went through very difficult challenges…a lot happened but I am so happy that we delivered the trophy that the fans have been waiting for some years.”

Haringingo, who has handled Mukura Victory, Police FC, and SC Kiyovu, has a one-year contract with Rayon which ends this season.
