Tanzania Polisi Tanzania relegated after Simba SC hammering

Polisi Tanzania have been relegated from the Tanzanian Premier League following their 6-1 thrashing by Simba SC in a one-sided league fixture on Wednesday.

Burundi international Saidi Ntibazonkiza was the chief tormentor as he scored five goals in the fixture at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam. The defeat means Polisi have been relegated alongside Ruvu Shooting and will play in the lower league for next season.

Polisi finished the season in position 15 with 25 points from 29 matches while Ruvu came last with 20 points.

Meanwhile, Ntibazonkiza is one goal away from catching up with the Premier League’s current top goal scorer Fiston Mayele. He has now netted 15 goals to his name against 16 goals pumped in by his Young Africans (Yanga SC) counterpart.

With the curtains for the league set to close on Friday, the winner of the Golden Boot will be decided then. Simba will finish the season with a home game against Coastal Union while Yanga will take on Tanzania Prisons.
