According to Spanish media reports, Barcelona center-back Jules Kounde will miss the Clasico after the team announced on Monday that he damaged a knee ligament.
In Sunday’s 2-2 LaLiga tie between Barcelona and Granada, Kounde was taken off after colliding with teammate Gavi and collapsing to the ground.
According to reports, Kounde’s sprain would likely keep him out for around a month, adding to the absences of Robert Lewandowski, Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, and Raphinha.
Kounde is now likely to miss Barcelona’s LaLiga encounter against Real Madrid on October 28 as well as the visits from Athletic Bilbao on October 22 and Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on October 25.
After spending the majority of the previous season being utilised out of position at right-back, the center-back has appeared in all 11 of Barcelona’s games this year and has performed admirably there.
Additionally, Kounde won’t be eligible for France in their games against the Netherlands on Friday and Scotland on Tuesday in a friendly for the Euro 2024 qualifying.
William Saliba, an Arsenal defender who was previously sidelined by a toe injury, was replaced on Sunday by Jean-Clair Todibo by Les Bleus coach Didier Deschamps.
