Nigeria Premier League NPFL: Agoye Rues Sunshine Stars Draw Against Heartland FC

Edith Agoye, the head coach of Sunshine Stars, has explained why his team lost to Heartland on Saturday in a Matchday 3 match, costing them three points.

At the Ondo Sports Complex Stadium, Michael Olalusi gave the Akure Gunners the early advantage before Patrick Nwogbara tied the score for the Naze Millionaires.

Agoye claimed that the team’s lack of focus cost them the game in an interview with Sunshine Stars FC Media after the match.

If the goal was a mistake from the goalkeeper, where was the defence, yes he made a mistake and there should have been a cover for him, we can’t blame him, we win together and lose together,” Agoye said.

“The game was two points loss, we will continue to work in the training ground and hopefully the results will start coming.”

The former Shooting Stars coach also disclosed that they failed to capitalise on the opportunities they presented during play.

“When you have the opportunity, it’s better to capitalise on it, we were very good in the first half with many goal scoring chances created ,we would have scored more goals than the one we scored in the first half.”

In the second half, we got punished for it, we learn from what happened and take positive from it and move on,” he concluded.
