Young Africans (Yanga SC) opened up a three-point gap at the summit of the Tanzanian Premier League table after a 2-0 win over Singida Big Stars.
The eye-catching game at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Friday witnessed Maxi Nzengeli netting a brace. After several hits and misses in the first half, goal gates opened up for Yanga in the 30th minute when Nzengeli nodded in.
Eight minutes later, he completed a brace after a long-range volley that exposed Singida Big Stars goalkeeper Benedict Haule. At 2-0, the hosts dictated the match until the whistle to break up the game for half-time sounded.
Following the outcome, Yanga have now amassed 18 points from seven matches. Up next, Yanga will take on traditional rivals Simba SC in a derby on November 5 at the 60,000-capacity arena.
