With a 1-0 victory over Royal Antwerp on Tuesday, Shakhtar Donetsk maintained their hopes of qualifying for the round of 16 of the Champions League thanks to a diving header by defender Mykola Matviyenko.
In the Group H match, the Hamburg-based Ukrainians dominated the first half and took the lead in the 12th minute when Matviyenko headed home a cross from Oleksandr Zubkov.
Though the Belgians had opportunities, Dmytro Riznyk, the custodian for Shakhtar, made incredible saves to prevent Antwerp from earning a point in their Champions League debut.
The leaders Barcelona and second-place Porto, who play later on Tuesday in Spain, are tied on nine points with Shakhtar in third place. The Catalans need to win to take the top spot after falling to the Ukrainians 1-0 earlier this month.
On December 13, Antwerp will play Barca in their last group-stage match, while Shakhtar will travel to Porto.
