FC Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez addressed rumors sending Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to the Spanish club as part of transfer window’s rumors.
The Frenchman’s contract is running out in June and he is yet to decide whether he will renew it or leave the Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe is also a Real Madrid-bound since his Monaco days but the La Liga giants are yet to table an offer for him.
On the other hand, Erling Haaland still has three years left on his contract with Manchester City.
However, rumors of him possibly joining Barcelona when the club’s midfielder Pedri said in an interview that the Norwegian would be his dream signing for his club as Robert Lewandowski replacement.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of Barcelona’s first 2024 game against Las Palmas, Xavi addressed both rumors and was realistic.
“Haaland or Mbappé? We can’t think of Haaland or Mbappé to join Barça now. We can’t afford these players, unfortunately”, he said.
“I’m happy with the players I have. We need to reach our best level as at this club we need to be always at top level”.
