Jesus Owono, the goalkeeper for Equatorial Guinea, stated that even though some of the Super Eagles’ prominent players are not allowed to compete in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the team is still competitive.
Alhassan Yusuf, Terem Moffi, and Paul Onuachu have already entered the team to take the places of Wilfred Ndidi, Victor Boniface, and Umar Sadiq.
Despite the injuries, Owono, a player for the Spanish team Deportivo Alaves, asserted that the Super Eagles are still a very good team.
“It’s true that some of the Nigerian players are injured, but the players who have come in are also good,” Owono said during his interaction with the media on Saturday.
“We also have our own injury problems too, so it’s not just Nigeria.
“Nigeria have good players in their team and playing against them is going to be a tough task for us.”
