AFCON AFCON 2023: Algeria vs Burkina Faso confirmed line up

Burkina Faso will qualify for the round of 16 at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations if they manage to beat Algeria in their second group fixture at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake on Saturday.

Burkina Faso, who won their opener 1-0 courtesy of a Bertrand Traore late minute penalty will reach the knockout stage while the Desert Foxes will be hoping to bounce back from their poor start which saw them sharing the spoils with Angola after taking the lead.

Head-to-Head:

– This will be the third meeting between Algeria and Burkina Faso in the AFCON – each encounter has taken place in the group stage. Their head-to-head record so far is perfectly balanced with one win and three goals each: 2-1 to Algeria in 1996, 2-1 to Burkina Faso in 1998.

– Since winning the 2019 final against Senegal, Algeria haven’t won any of their last four matches at the AFCON (D2 L2), last having a longer winless run across the 2010 and 2013 editions (five games).

Algeria XI: Mandrea; Atal, Ait Nouri, Bensebani, Mandi; Bentaleb, Feghouli, Zerrouki; Mahrez, Belail, Bouedjah.

Burkina Faso XI: Koffi; Nagalo, Kabore, Taposoba, Konate; Dayo, Tapsoba, Sangae; Toure, Guira, Yago.
