Egypt forward Mohamed Salah has sent a message to head coach Rui Vitoria after he was fired by the North African side.
The Portuguese tactician was shown the exit door following the Pharaoh’s exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast at the Round of 16. Egypt finished their group stage matches without registering victory, drawing the opener 2-2 against Mozambique, 2-2 against Ghana and 2-2 against Cape Verde.
However, they qualified for the knockout stage as one of the best losers and were pitted against DR Congo. During the fixture which Salah missed owing to injury, Congo won 8-7 on penalties.
“Thanks for everything, coach, and I wish you all the best on the future,” Salah wrote on his social media pages.
Egypt have gone ahead to appoint legendary striker Hossam Hassan as their new head coach.
